How to play and connect
Create an account, install the launcher and log in to your first character in a few minutes.
PrivatePS is an Old School RuneScape style world with its own launcher. You do not need Java or RuneLite installed: the launcher brings everything.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Mac and Linux are not supported yet.
- A free PrivatePS account (one account holds up to 10 characters).
Step by step
- Create an account on the account page (or from the launcher). Pick a username and a password. Your account name is not your character name.
- Download the launcher from the download page and run
PrivatePS-Setup.exe. If Windows warns about an unknown publisher, choose More info and then Run anyway, but only for the file you downloaded from this site. - Log in to the launcher with your account.
- Create a character: choose a name, a game mode and an XP mode. These are fixed once the character exists.
- Press Play. The launcher logs you in without typing a password in the game client.
The launcher updates itself and the game client, so after an update just open it again and press Play.
Your first minutes
- New characters start at the Grand Exchange, the home of the world. A guide there explains the basics in a few minutes and you can skip it.
- You get a starter pack: iron armour and weapons, runes, basic tools, some food and 25,000 coins.
- Use
::commandsin the chat box to list the commands you can use. See Commands. - Open the bank, try the Grand Exchange, and walk around: most teleports and transport are free.
Approved plugins
The client ships with an approved plugin list (117 HD, Inventory Setups, Shortest Path and more, see the rules). Plugins that are not on the list block your login.
