The Dig Site is a quest of Varrock. Start it by talking to the person named in your quest journal; the journal tells you the next step as you go.

Requirements

Skill levels are only warned about when you start: the quest tells you if one of your levels is lower than needed to finish it, and a step you lack the level for cannot be completed.

Walkthrough

1. Talk to an examiner at the Exam Centre (3361 3339) and ask to take an exam; take the letter
2. Get the letter stamped by the Curator in Varrock's museum (3256 3449), then hand it to an examiner and fail the first exam
3. Help the three students: steal an animal skull from a workman (Thieving 25), search the bush at 3357 3372 for the teddy, give the panning guide (3374 3374) a cup of tea and pan the river for the special cup
4. Return their things for the answers and pass the level 1 exam (trowel and certificate)
5. Pass the level 2 exam at the second examiner with the students' hints
6. Give the purple student an opal (pan the river), then pass the level 3 exam at the third examiner
7. Use the trowel on the soil of a level 3 pit (around 3350 3407) until you find a strange talisman; show it to Terry Balando (3353 3336)
8. Show Terry's invitation to a digsite workman, then rope the winches at 3352 3417 (Agility 10) and 3370 3428
9. Get the chest key from Doug Deeping in the north shaft, the powder from the chest (3374 3378), the liquid from the barrel with a trowel and a vial (3364 3378) and charcoal from the tray (3367 3387)
10. Let Terry identify the liquid and powder; mix nitroglycerin, ammonium nitrate, ground charcoal and an arcenia root (cave of the west winch) (Herblore 10)
11. Pour the compound over the bricks in the north shaft (3378 9824) and light it with a tinderbox; take the stone tablet from the altar and give it to Terry
